ABOUT URSULA

ADVOCATE | EDUCATOR | SPEAKER

Ursula Liebowitz is an award winning sexual violence prevention advocate with over 20 years’ experience in the field. She has been featured on a variety of national media platforms including More Magazine, WMBC, and Susan G. Komen for her passionate work promoting sexual violence prevention.

 

Her innovative work to stop violence against women was honored with the Eve Ensler “V” Warrior Award. While she speaks regularly to various demographics throughout the state of New Jersey about sexual violence awareness and prevention, her primary focus groups are, young people in their senior year of high school through the first two years of college when they are most at-risk to be the victim of sexual violence.

AFTER URSULA'S CAREER BEGAN...

with the Union County Rape Crisis Center, she soon discovered a gap in services for Essex County (the most densely populated county in New Jersey) and founded the Essex County Rape Care Center. As Executive Director She developed and facilitated ground-breaking programs with police departments, high schools, and universities.

 

She also pioneered advocate programs to respond to and support victims of sexual violence. Additionally, Ms. Liebowitz was a Board member for the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) New Jersey’s state run program for sexual violence prevention and education for five years, serving 21 counties. Ms. Liebowitz was honored to host, New Jersey Governor Richard Cody in signing the Domestic Violence Bill into law in 2005.
